Madison Avenue Monday: The Frocks of Downton Abbey

This week's MAM is inspired by the wonderful Downton Abbey.  Enjoy these frocks from Needlecraft Magazine,  June 1926. (My scanner was not quite wide enough for this large format magazine, so a couple of the frocks were cut off on the edge; sorry!).

  2. These are amazing, I love the way the fabric drapes on 1920s dresses. Fabulous! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Those are beautiful! Love the colors and the way they were done, especially the first photo. Wow.
Do you remember some time back I posted on my mom's embroidery w/Pink Saturday? I had mentioned that some day I'd post on the rest of them and that I'd let you know when I do. Well, I'm posting them on my blog tomorrow (unless the meme I'm posting with first posts later this afternoon and I just can't wait any longer myself!). Thought I'd stop by and let you know. Then realize I wish I'd come by more often! These photos are great! What a treasure! Vintage good stuff, huh?
You know - I miss the beauty of those older fashions - even if we just go back to the 70's or 80's ... maybe the 90's ...but those early 1900 fashions were beautiful, weren't they?

  4. These are so wonderfully lovely - and that cover, oh my stars, it is an absolute work of art. Tony and I really got in the show Boardwalk Empire late last year (and promptly watched every single episode), which is set in the 20s, and I haven't been able to shake 1920s fashions from my mind ever since. The styles of this decade rarely work well on my figure (short and curvy does not a stereotypical looking flapper make ;) ), but I cannot help loving them all the same.
